Encaustic Mixed Media

Knit Fix-It 
(or Oops! What do I do now?)

When you make a knitting mistake, do you know how to fix it, or do you banish the project to the clost of broken dreams? This workshop will give you the skills and confidence to save aggravation and save those projects! $35. 

Prep required: 
With light coloured worsted weight yarn (20 sts to 4 inches/10 cm) on 4 or 4.5 mm needles, cast on 30 stitches. Knit 5 rows. Purl row 6, knit row 7, then repeat rows 6 & 7 until work measures 6 inches. Leave on needles and bring to class. Please bring balance of yarn, extra needles, a crochet hook (3.5 or 4) and blunt darning needle.
Silkscreen your own Designs

Screen printing is one of the most versatile, low-tech and easy printing methods available - once you know how. In this workshop, you will create your own stencil and practice printing on fabric, tote bags, aprons and tea towels. $80 includes all materials.

Hand Spinning Demo

The act of spinning fibres into yarn is relaxing, rewarding, meditative and addictive. Spinning wheels can be costly, so getting started is a big decision. Let Melissa McColl of Vintage Baby Revival and LadeeBee share her experiences as a new and devoted spinner. You'll learn where to buy your wheel and supplies, play with some unspun fibres and see what they look like spun up into luscious yarns. She'll introduce you to her wheel, explain its parts and decipher spinning jargon for you. You'll take a mini skein of yarn home too! $25.  Please call to reserve.

Nuno Silk Scarf Felting

Nuno felting is a traditional wet felting technique where wool roving is combined with a lightweight silk base to produce a richly textured, luxurious fabric which can be incorporated into clothing and accessories. You will learn the basics of wet felting as you apply floral or abstract motifs to a silk chiffon scarf. This unique piece of wearable art will make a great gift for yourself or somebody else. $75 includes all materials.
Beginner Sewing with Susan

This course will get you ready to begin sewing, or begin sewing again!  Essential hand sewing techniques, machine basics, hemming and various seams will be covered. $145. Equipment and supplies provided, or you can bring your own machine to learn on.
Learn to Smock

Learn how to hand smock using the "Canadian" and "direct smocking" techniques. In this class, you will learn several variations of stitches which produce three-dimensional forms on fabric. You will leave with a sample of each variation, and instructions on how to apply smocking ot skirts, cushions and curtains. $50 includes supplies.
